Overview

A lobby ceiling of LED tiles that rise and fall on their own winches, forming slow waves above concrete and oak.

A kinetic ceiling gives LED a third dimension. Each tile hangs on its own winch and moves up or down while it shows light. Together the tiles form a slow wave that passes over the lobby, in step with the image on their faces. Above concrete and oak, the effect is closer to breathing than to a screen. Motion, speed and resting height are set for each program.
